Amid unfortunate emerging events including internet disruptions, we remain committed to our mission of providing affordable digital access to the people of Myanmar. While our priority is safety of our staff, Frontiir will continue to work hard and address the challenges to deliver high-quality services so that the SMEs can keep their businesses running, children and students can pursue their online education and millions can carry out necessary communications, entertainment and other online activities. We are working closely with others in the industry to try to open dialogue with the authorities to restore stable network connectivity in Myanmar.

The mobile and broadband network services had temporary internet access blackout from 6 Feb 2021, including Frontiir’s networks.
All internet service has been fully restored since the early afternoon of 7 Feb 2021.

The mobile operators and internet service providers in Myanmar implemented temporary blockage of Instagram and Twitter social media platforms as per existing Telecommunications Laws in Myanmar.
As a telecommunication licensee, Frontiir also complied and customers will see a landing page with a statement explaining why they are not able to reach the blocked site.

Frontiir is closely observing the emerging events in Myanmar while taking necessary steps. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of the Frontiirians and we continue to be proactive. We have been able to restore all our services including the Myanmar Net internet services across all cities as of the afternoon of Feb 1st.

Frontiir’s mission is to provide affordable digital access and useful information services to people and help bridge the global digital divide. After the launch Myanmar Net service four years ago, 1.6 million users in Myanmar now have access to internet with affordable prices, as low as 1,000 kyats for 5 days ($0.13 per day) of unlimited broadband internet.
In line with our mission, Frontiir believes in providing digital access to the population, and is committed to open access. Recently, in 2020 March, all operators and service providers in Myanmar received Directives to block child pornography and fake news sites on the internet, in accordance with the Myanmar Telecom Laws, Article 77 and 88 (b).
During the internal review process, it was found that a large number of the sites are listed as sites to be blocked internationally, under INTERPOL and United Nations office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP). However, for a few fake news sites that we were unable to have a conclusive assessment, we sought clarification from the Regulator and industry peers regarding those sites, and implemented as required. Frontiir Co. Ltd is incorporated under Myanmar laws, and the condition of the licenses granted required to follow such directives just as all Mobile Operators and other service providers had done. In accordance with Frontiir’s transparent policy, all restricted sites have explicit explanation on why they are blocked.
Frontiir remains committed to open and affordable access to the internet and will continue to participate and support in industry-wide constructive discussions and have continued dialogue on this matter with the key stakeholders.

To provide support and care for the employees during COVID-19, Frontiir Quarantine Center was built following the rules and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sport of Myanmar.
Frontiir built “Frontiir Quarantine Center” for our staff in November as the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic affected Myanmar. Staff who were asked to isolate by the authorities at a facility quarantine center (non-positive cases) can stay securely in our center.
The quarantine center operates under the rules and guidelines required by the Ministry of Health and Sports. An official letter will be given to show the relevant authorities that there was an official transfer to Frontiir Quarantine Center.
The Center has capacity of 16 males and 8 females, separated with individual single rooms. Those staying will receive a care package and three meals daily. The Center will be supported by one cleaner and one facility support both day and night, as well as the help of volunteers during day time. Volunteers will be staying in a separate glass room and will not have any contact with others in the Center.
The Frontiir Quarantine Center is fully supported by a doctor on call, as well as necessary and life-saving medical supplies in case needed. However, those who became ill or need medical attention will be transferred by ambulance to receive appropriate care at a hospital.
Frontiir is dedicated to the growth and development of Myanmar and its people, from low-tech health solutions to high-tech communication plans.
